Renting a car in Granada

Driving in southern Spain is a rare joy, with light countryside traffic and spectacular scenery. Despite excellent roads, beware of aggressive Spanish drivers, as Spain has the second-highest road mortality rate in Europe. Consider avoiding main motorways if you’re a nervous driver.

Rental requirements

Renting a car is straightforward, with low charges and well-maintained vehicles. Credit cards are the preferred payment method. To rent, present your passport, driver’s license (US or European), and meet the minimum age requirement of 21 (25 for some vehicles). Expect to provide proof of address.

Prices

Car rental prices vary by season and region. On average, a small car rental costs about €25/day, with January being the cheapest month at around €14/day and July the most expensive at €45/day. Security deposits range from €250 to €1,000. Before driving, inspect the car for damages and document them with the rental company.
